Podcast of the interview

GUEST: Congressman Bob McEwen represented Ohio in the House of Representatives for six terms.

While Democrats blame Republicans and President Bush, Congressman McEwen shares a bit of history and helps Truth For Our Time listeners understand how we got into this financial quagmire in the first place.

Congressman McEwen has kindly allowed me to reprint the information below:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Federal Government & Obama's Advisors Role Mortgage Meltdown
Corporate Socialism
Bob McEwen, former Congressman (R-Ohio)

While the report from Washington tries to paint this WallStreet melt down as somehow damaging McCain............the fountain of this debacle is Fannie Mae. Fannie became, under Clinton, a money tree for Democrat operatives. Fannie CEOs Jim Johnson & Franklin Raines (Clinton's director of OMB) began buying paper (mortgages) that were made by their friends (ex. Countrywide). These companies were giving loans in excess to the value of the property. These loans often went to illegal aliens and inner city folk with no visible means of support.

All across northern Virginia these once beautiful properties are being abandoned and are now in deplorable condition. I have looked at dozens with my 23 year old son who is seeking to buy his first home. They are everywhere. Stickers on the door asking the owner to contact one government agency or another.

Fannie Mae gave these companies money to pass out.....often based upon race.........and not capacity to repay.

Jim Johnson (Mondale's campaign manager) became CEO of Fannie Mae and took tens of millions for himself. He recently headed Obama's Vice Presidential search team.

Franklin Raines (Clinton's Budget Director) took over $100 million for himself and, because of his reporting billions on Fannies books, he knew were bogus........has been ordered to return $40 million of it. He is Obama's economic advisor.

Janet Reno and her sidekick Jamie Gorelick (who denied the FBI access to CIA files on the 9/11 bombers that would have stopped them before they acted) have taken over $75 million for themselves from Fannie.

-------------------------------End of reprinted explanation-----------

McEwen explains we may have a financial crisis, but it doesn't have to be an economic crisis. The best solution is to allow the free market to correct itself as we have already seen by Warren Buffet's lead. Voters need to understand the high cost ($700,000,000,000.) of a government 'bail out' with no benefit verses 'working it out' through long term investing and payoff in the free market. One must ask, if government caused the problem why would we trust government to fix it?

Sometimes ideas that seem good today cause great problems tomorrow and giving loans to individuals who had no means to pay and were not ready for the responsibility of owning a home is just one example. During this election cycle you are already hearing about 'social justice', but it is a misrepresentation of true justice with programs and socialistic philosophies that will cause greater problems later.

Full interview podcast

Thinking it through:
Democrats always seem to 'feel our pain' during campaign seasons. But honestly, I don't want a president who can 'feel my pain' - I want a president who will quit 'causing my pain'. Obama continues to try and tie McCain with Bush in blame over this financial fiasco which seems risky considering at least one those listed by McEwen as part of the problem is actively involved in Obama's campaign. So much for change.

Truth For Our Time - Tony Nassif / Ia Supreme Court ruling on perversion

TFOT 092008

Guest: Tony Nassif
- Founder and President of the Cedars Cultural and Educational Foundation

Thinking It Through: TFOT Sept 6th guest was Dr. E. Calvin Beisner and the subject was 'Climate Change'. Dr. Beisner informed listeners that one of the underlying falsehoods in this agenda espoused by many environmentalist zealots is the need to limit the world's population. The word 'crowded'in Thomas Friedman's new book entitled 'Hot, Flat, and Crowded' gives credibility to Beisner's warning.

Interview: Recently the Iowa Supreme Court overturned the indecent-exposure conviction of one Ronnie James Isaac. Several women were awakened to a man 'repeating sexually explicit exclamations', moaning and knocking on windows. Police officers found Isaac outside the a window exposed and in a public act of perversion. The court overruled Isaac's conviction due to two words in the Iowa code, 'to another'. Supposedly, because there was no 'other' or no actual victim, Iowa's Supreme Court overturned Isaac's conviction. John Carlson's column in the DM Register summarizes the decision pretty well.

Nassif, author of 'Jesus, Politics and the Church' brings the correlation of our sexually deviant culture, the breakdown of the family and the rise in the molestation, abuse, and prostitution of America's children together. "We are straining gnats only to swallow camels," Nassif said of the recent ruling; explaining that the court held out over two words when the intent of the code was understood and allowed a much larger problem to exist - a sexual pervert who may likely strike again.

Nassif explained the sexual dangers awaiting too many children are no longer relegated to the big cities or inner cities, but are hurting everyday Iowans. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children says 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys will be molested before adulthood. Local headlines increasingly tell the story of children in Iowa being molested. Nassif says until we stop heresy in the church, return to Biblical principles and face our sins as a nation, we cannot expect these problems to be corrected. Nassif encouraged Iowans to correct the verbiage in the Iowa Code so the Supreme Court must follow the intent of the law; and said now is the time to ask candidates and incumbents how they will work to correct the ugly spiraling of our morals swirling down the drain.

Follow-up to Aug 30th show - Debbie Schlussel on Postville, IA

TFOT - show aired 083008

When 150 plus semi-legal Somalian Muslim extremist arrived in Iowa to replace the 300 illegal aliens once employed at the Postville packing plant, local newspapers and broadcast media reported nothing. Only on Truth For Our Time did Iowans learn of the concerning situation. Debbie Schlussel warned TFOT listeners of radical Muslim views that are often contradictory if not hostile to American culture and workers that would not care to assimilate or share Iowa's values.

Days later Schlussel's warning is unfortunately accurate and the Chicago Tribune carried a story from the Associated Press reporting a recent rise in crime. The Postville police chief hopes to add another officer to deal with new population and crime rates. The Des Moines Register reported the new employees came from a variety of locations, but again said burden on the community was growing as Local churches' were seeing five times the amount of people each week at their food pantries as individuals lined the sidewalk waiting for handouts.

Truth For Our Time - Down Syndrome and God's plan

TFOT - 091308

Guest: Anne Downey, New York State Director for Concerned Women for America

Over a year ago Anne Downey began working on a project to help educate expecting parents on the joys and benefits of children diagnosed with Down Syndrome. What Anne didn't know a year ago was how God's timing would be perfect and Anne's website and Down Syndrome Brochure would be completed at the same time the world would meet a Down Syndrome baby named Trig and his mother, Sarah Palin, John McCain's running mate.

Palin brings many grand discoveries and new dimensions to the political battles of the day. As Sarah held little Trig in her arms on stage at the GOP 2008 Convention she was just so comfortable and at ease. It wasn't a phony 'photo op' like we might have seen. It was a happy mama holding her infant and showing the world her family. Palin wasn't making a planned political statement, instead her family made an even greater statement to the world. Her son, diagnosed with Down Syndrome before birth was 'perfectly beautiful' to the Palin family. Seeing little Trig, loved for who he is, allowed us to see his value - for who he is - just as God created him.

God's timing is always perfect. At a time when people like Peter Singer favor killing disabled babies via infanticide; it is exciting to see a glimpse of the great things God may do through a baby named Trig, a candidate for VP, and an attorney in NY.
