TFOT Follow-up Sat. 3/28/09 Bob Knight - Coral Ridge Ministries

Saturday March 28, 2009

Listen to interviews and get podcasts.

GUEST: Bob Knight Senior Writer/News Correspondent for Coral Ridge Ministries Media and Senior Fellow at the American Civil Rights Union

UPDATE:
HR 1388 - dangerous legislation forcing all youth to be committed to a 'training camp' for a period of time while essentially being indoctrinated with views that may directly oppose the training and values parents have carefully instilled in their children for 18 years. Brannon Howse reports there are no religious activity or worship services will be permitted during the training period.

CALL US SENATORS AND YOUR CONGRESSMAN or CONGRESSWOMAN EVERYDAY UNTIL THIS BILL DIES: DC SWITCHBOARD 202-224-3121

TOPIC: Fairness Doctrine, Justice Dept. nominees/appointees, HR 1388 "Mandatory Volunteerism" and what Americans can do concerning each of these issues.

Bob shares his views on recent Justice Department nominees from the new Obama Administration and other headlines including Knight’s own ‘new position’ with Coral Ridge.

Bob reports the Fairness Doctrine is still a threat and explains listeners can go to The American Civil Rights Union, NOT the ACLU - the ACRU, and sign a petition to stop this dangerous legislation that will simply silence conservatives on talk radio. The bill in no way works to correct the liberal bias in mainstream media news, broadcast TV, print media, or even the liberal subtleties in TV sitcoms and dramas through story lines and character assassination of conservatives or Christians.

Bob speaks to the Department of Justice nominees and their activist work. You've heard little if any objection or even reporting of their past work by the mainstream media:

David Ogden to be the U.S. Deputy Attorney General who has repeatedly represented the pornography industry and its interests.

Elena Kagan to serve as Solicitor General has worked to ban the military from recruiting on campus.

Dawn Johnson, nominated to serve as Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel, has gone to great lengths to challenge pro-life provisions, including parental consent and notification laws.

Thomas Pirelli, nominated to serve as Associate Attorney General, has failed to affirm and protect the dignity of all human life by working as advocate for euthanasia.

To see the C-Span archive of Sen. Inhofe - R - OK in the U. S. Senate speaking to the activist work of these nominees, calling them extremists. March 11, 2009

TFOT Follow-up Fri. 3/27/09 Dr. Jeff Myers - Evangelical Collapse

Truth For Our Times - Friday, March 27, 2009

Listen to interview

Podcast

GUEST: Dr. Jeff Myers President of Passing The Baton

TOPIC: Michael Spencer's provocative op-ed in the The Christian Science Monitor, stating a major collapse of evangelical Christianity is only about 10 years away and Christians will easily be outpaced by Islam unless Christians start having more babies.

Dr. Myers says the evangelical movement certainly could collapse but that doesn't have to be a reality. Beyond changing the birthrates, which could be an easy fix, Dr. Myers gives suggestions of how we can stop a potential collapse to parents, pastors, and all who are willing to take the challenge of obedience.

Two quick points:
1. Repair disconnect between generations. Surprisingly, this is not trying to imitate the world or totally changing churches to become something they are not in hopes of attracting youth. Dr. Myers said, 'having middle aged folks wiggling on the stage' trying to be contemporary, isn't the way to do it - we connect by offering real relationships. Rather than integrating groups according to age or leaving one group out and focusing only on '25-45's', we should bring all age groups together. This creates opportunities for relationships and friendships to form which allows mentoring relationships to grow. Friendships cannot be forced, but they are formed through a series of experiences, often unplanned. Having the 'body' together generates unity.

2. Biblical truth to the next generation. These young adults are looking for hard truth not 'gospel light'. The Word of God is steady and good for all time, we need to offer it without the false packaging churches are trying to now wrap it in. Today's twenty-somethings have grown up with technology and marketing. They can sense if something is not authentic and they resent counterfeits or attempts to create something synthetic.

The Freedom of Conscience

Please call and submit your statement before April 9, 2009.

No matter what you think of abortion I believe we can agree that people should not be forced to commit such acts which destroys human life. It is one thing to debate abortion it is quite another to force the medical field to perform one. Where are the voices that are "pro-choice"?

The moral depravity must be responded to.

I encourage you to read the following article by our good friend David Smith from the Illinois Family Institute.

TFOT Follow-up Wed. 3/25/09 Jan Markel

Truth For Our Time - Wednesday, March 25, 2009

GUEST: Jan Markel, Founder of Olive Tree Views

LISTEN TO INTERVIEWS or get podcasts at www.worldviewradio.com.

TOPIC: Jan's recent article on the “The Emergent Church Could Submerge Yours!” as she shares what too many pastors are ignoring and have allowed in the sanctuaries like teachings of Rob Bell, Brian McLaren, and others.

Jan defined the Emergent Church and the Emerging Church, and warns Christians to be weary of both. Jan explains the Emergent Church really is not interested in doctrine; rather, they want things you can feel, touch, and smell such as incense and icons. Jan warned there is no such thing as "Christian Yoga". Jan discussed the subtle move toward isolating congegrational members by age and blaming the removal of hymns and doctrinal values on the need to build a 'bridge to the next generation'. Do we no longer trust God to be able to meet the needs of every individual? Does He need our help revising His Word? Jan warns, "This movement reinvents Christianity by taking eyes off of the cross and onto experience. Scripture is no longer the authority. There are no absolutes, not even in the Bible." It is now about experience and feelings which we used to be trained to ignore as we are easily deceived with we take our eyes off Him and Biblical training. John 3:30, Col 2:8

Jan has the courage to discuss the difficult questions like, "Can you find God in a book called ‘The Shack’?" Many steadfast believers are experiencing an uneasiness with new teachings or practices in their own churches and they should be! We'll continue that discussion on Truth For Our Time, 11:30 a.m. central time www.praise940.com, April 14, 2009.

TFOT Follow-up Thur. 3/36/09 Iowa Prayer Breakfast Speaker Ron Gustafson

Truth For Our Time - Thursday, March 26, 2009

GUEST: Ron ‘Gus’ Gustafson, was a standout basketball player in high school in spite having lost his right arm and shoulder in a tragic childhood farm accident. Ron is the speaker at this year’s 48th Annual Iowa Prayer Breakfast and will encourage listeners how to rebound from ‘Setbacks to Comebacks’.

An encourager, no doubt, Ron challenged parents to allow kids time to play, create, and imagine so they can find solutions to their problems. His kids start a business at age 13 so they can realize the opportunity of being responsible and providing services/products that others will pay to receive.

Ron reminded listeners that God never gives us more than we can handle and sometimes we need to simply start taking action, facing the problem, and moving forward rather than focusing on our feelings of being overwhelmed.
