Truth For Our Time is heard streaming on www.praise940.com at 8:00 a.m. central time, Saturday mornings.
Guest: Chris Hurley
Topic: Iowa School Board Elections
Chris explains the process and filing dates for Iowans to file nomination papers to run for local school boards. Chris also shares the need for ordinary parents, grandparents, and taxpayers to be involved in this process. One need not be an 'expert' in education nor have a college degree to be a vital member of a local school board who can help direct local schools in making the best decisions regarding our children. Filing deadline is July 31, 2008 at 5 p.m. Papers need to be turned into the secretary at the school district office. Iowa School Board Elections will be held Sept. 9, 2008.

Yee-ha! We're up writing early! Not bad for a couple of night owls. As for me, it's only because K woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep. :)
Who's going to talk about all these new required medical screenings in Iowa??? My guess is that public school parents aren't aware of all the new rules (vision and dental screenings and blood lead tests). Also, if not for HSLDA, I'm not sure I'd be aware enough about the parental rights issue for the medical screenings to register on my radar. My guess is that many outside the homeschool community are totally unaware of the parental rights issues we're facing.
Your thoughts???

Thank you for posting. Thank you for bringing the new invasive questions on the CPI forms to the attention of others. These are the subtle avenues school officials like to use when collecting information they don't honestly have a right (or need) to know, or when they are promoting an idea as if it were policy.
I have a couple of suggestions as to guest to discuss the school vaccinations, but haven't confirmed anyone yet. I will try to post it in good time.
Next week's show is very interesting. We focus on just the HPV vaccine rather than all vaccines being forced upon children by local school districts. I will follow-up with a show on general vaccinations, but next Saturday's topic is down right alarming for parent's of young girls who have likely been pressured to get their daughters the HPV vaccine. And, unfortunately, Iowa is listed as 'progressive' states forcing insurance companies to pay for this supposed vaccine, a vaccine that costs more than all childhood vaccinations combined.

Tamara
