Guest: Anne Downey,
New York State Director for Concerned Women for AmericaOver a year ago Anne Downey began working on a project to help educate expecting parents on the joys and benefits of children diagnosed with Down Syndrome. What Anne didn't know a year ago was how God's timing would be perfect and Anne's
website and
Down Syndrome Brochure would be completed at the
same time the world would meet a Down Syndrome baby named Trig and his mother, Sarah Palin, John McCain's running mate.
Palin brings many grand discoveries and new dimensions to the political battles of the day. As Sarah held little Trig in her arms on stage at the GOP 2008 Convention she was just so comfortable and at ease. It wasn't a phony 'photo op' like we might have seen. It was a happy mama holding her infant and showing the world her family. Palin wasn't making a planned political statement, instead her family made an even greater statement to the world. Her son, diagnosed with Down Syndrome before birth was 'perfectly beautiful' to the Palin family. Seeing little Trig, loved for who he is, allowed us to see his value - for who he is - just as God created him.
God's timing is always perfect. At a time when people like
Peter Singer favor killing disabled babies via infanticide; it is exciting to see a glimpse of the great things God may do through a baby named Trig, a candidate for VP, and an attorney in NY.
